Virginia Holocaust Museum

The Virginia Holocaust Museum illustrates the tragedy of the Second World War – the massive murders of the Jews and Gypsies. It includes the exhibitions of true Holocaust survivors, historical documents, and files. These people took the risk and either survived or died in the unequal fight with the Germans.

I attended the exhibitions devoted to the Nuremberg Trials that deeply impressed me. Everything looked like a real tribunal: the characters, places and even the voices reminded that horrible event. Certainly, true stories about the victims of that tragedy and murders of innocent children revealed the whole history of the Holocaust.

I symphonize those people who did not survive and were killed by the Nazi party. Those were innocent people whose only fault was their nationality. People cannot choose their race, gender or nationality at birth. The tragedy implies that Germans could not accept the existence of those nations. I do regret for the victims, and every story reduced me to tears. Unfortunately, many families were deported and executed during those fearful times. Some people had lost all their relatives in that tragedy. I was proud of those people, who did not leave their relatives, families, and nation.

This visit, however, has raised my self-awareness and understanding. Nevertheless, I still have some unanswered questions on the social justice. I cannot understand the aim and German’s intentions of this tragedy. I wonder if my nation or the citizens any other country can give their lives while defending their historic heritage and culture.

In conclusion, the visit to the Virginia Holocaust Museum teaches us a priceless lesson about the cruelty and violence of the nations, discrimination and disrespect to those people, who due to the common stereotypes will always be the «the worst part of the planet».
